About the Dallas Sierra Club

The Sierra Club is the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. We amplify the power of our millions of members and supporters to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world.

Our Mission and Purpose

Since its inception over 130 years ago, Sierra Club has been on a mission:
To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the Earth
Dallas Sierra Club volunteer leaders recognize the integral need to feel the sun on one’s face and the earth beneath one’s feet. Because of this, we conduct multiple nature focused outings every year. These outings include:
-Day hikes around Dallas
-Weekend car camps at various state parks
-Backpack trips to national wilderness areas.
You can learn more about outings here and our currently scheduled trips here. If you’re interested in becoming an Outings Leader, click here for information.

To practice and promote the responsible use of the Earth's ecosystems and resources
The Dallas Sierra Club focuses its advocacy on a myriad of local conservation issues ranging from the creation of urban gardens to advocating for Superfund Site remediation (and everything in between). We strive to  promote citizen awareness and participation in improving the health of our communities by supporting local advocates working to improve their neighborhoods. To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment
The Dallas Group hosts a general meeting the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm via zoom. Click here for meeting information. These meetings are free, open to the public, and feature interesting topics relevant to our local community.

To use all lawful means to carry out these objectives
The Dallas Sierra Club is active in local elections, environmental issues, and legislation that affects our families and our futures. Please click here to learn about the Dallas Sierra Club Political Committee and how you can help create change.

Who We Are

The Dallas Sierra Club is an all volunteer grassroots organization with 9,500 local members and supporters committed to improving the health and well being of all residents through responsible, legal environmental activism. We are organized around the following four groups of special interests and skills:

We are governed as a whole by an elected  Executive Committee (ExCom) which sets Dallas Group policy and conducts Group business in accordance with our bylaws. ExCom meetings are open to all members and all are encouraged to attend and speak out. If you would like to attend an ExCom meeting, please email the Dallas Sierra Club Chair for information and admittance.
