The Sierra Club sponsors regular evening and daytime programs at the Yosemite Conservation Heritage Center during the summer.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Specific programs are subject to change or rescheduling. Please call ahead if you wish to attend a specific program at (209) 372-4542. Seating for each program held at the Center is limited to 50 guests

INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

NOTE! Programs are held in the YCHC, Shuttle Bus Stop #12, across from the Housekeeping Cabins.  

FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  Doors Open at 7:45 pm.

Greg Stock, Yosemite National Park Geologist

Greg, the first Yosemite National Park Geologist, takes us on a journey in a study of the formation and disappearance of the Sierra glaciers.

 

8:00 PM - Saturday, June 27 – Along the John Muir Trail: Mount Whitney to Half Dome

Lee Terkelsen, Nature and Historical Filmmaker

Join Lee as he narrates his film hiking through the High Sierra to Yosemite National Park.

Ben Cunningham-Summerfield, Yosemite National Park Interpretive Ranger

Spend an evening with Ben as he weaves together lyrical sounds and stories.

8:00 PM - Friday, July 17 – Power of Sequoia! Changing Our Lives.  Big Trees. Big Impact!

Lee Terkelsen, Nature and Historical Filmmaker

Three of the first four national parks were created to protect groves of Sequoia trees.  Welcome to Lee’s current film project—the influence of Sequoia on history and environmental policy.

Steven Riley, Author, Little Tycooney and the Big Yosemite Race

Meet Steve and hear his story about the Yosemite raccoon that inspired the book about this amazing race.

Michael Wurtz, Director of Special Collections, University of the Pacific/Sierra Club Member/YCHC Volunteer

Meet Michael and his new book John Muir’s Grand Yosemite, which captures places Muir hiked.  University of the Pacific is the Home of the John Muir Papers.  A new program for the YCHC.

An introduction to Charles Kellogg, a forgotten naturalist, who sang like a bird, and fought to save the coastal redwoods.
