TRAIL VISION FOR PATAPSCO VALLEY STATE PARK

In November 2014, the Park Service began the process of redesigning the trails in Patapsco Valley State Park. Trail Manager Dan Hudson led the effort, conducting meetings with different trail users and interested stakeholders, including Sierra Club.

YOUR OPINION IS NEEDED.

Please visit the Open House and share your vision for the Park's trail system. Help us create a network of sustainable paths that encourage appreciation of nature with a minimal impact on the environment.

MARYLAND PARK SERVICE, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES: NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING: TRAIL VISION FOR PATAPSCO VALLEY STATE PARK

The Superintendent of the Maryland Park Service is pleased to announce an open house for the purpose of presenting draft concepts for a Trail Vision for Patapsco Valley State Park.

Changes in park visitation and trail use patterns, as well as associated changes in the neighboring communities, provide new opportunities to connect the park to those communities. The draft concepts will serve to identify trail improvements, address current gaps in connectivity, assess resource impacts, and highlight future needs and conservation goals.

Public comment received at the open house will be used to develop the Trail Vision, which will guide future decision-making by the Maryland Park Service regarding capital improvements, staffing and operations, and stakeholder requests for improved or additional access. Maps and descriptions of the draft concepts will be available for review and comment at the meeting.

Following the meeting, the concepts will be available for review at the Department of Natural Resources – Maryland Park Service at 580 Taylor Avenue, E-3, in Annapolis, Maryland 21401. For additional information, please call the Maryland Park Service in Annapolis at (410) 260-8149 or e-mail Dan.Hudson@Maryland.gov . Sign language interpreters and other appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities will be provided upon request.
