Invasive Vegetation: Alternatives to Herbicides on YouTube

October 12, 2026

If you missed Invasive Vegetation: Alternatives to Herbicides hosted by Sierra Sage last month, you can find the program streaming on our YouTube channel, now available.

Members of the Creek Team spoke to Sierra Sage about the recent environmental threats associated with spraying pesticides in the San Juan Creek (right in our own backyard!).  San Juan Creek is the last remaining unpaved riparian corridor connecting the Pacific Ocean to the Santa Ana Mountains in south Orange County. It's a critical habitat for fish, birds, and protected species. It's a major groundwater recharge area for local water districts. It drains directly into Doheny State Beach and the surf zones where people swim.

The Creek Team OC has effectively exposed and challenged toxic aquatic herbicide spraying by Orange County Public Works in local channels like San Juan Creek and San Diego Creek.

A Call to Action
Public pressure works. Go to creekteam.org and learn how to contact your county officials and demand they halt unnecessary herbicide spraying across all county waterways and invest in the restoration plan that the Army Corps recommended. This is a situation where public concern and pressure have already had an effect, and your action will matter.
