We’re Hiring: Deputy Chapter Director
Sierra Club California is hiring a Deputy Chapter Director, a senior leadership role based in Sacramento that helps advance our statewide strategy, strengthen our campaign execution, and support the staff-and-volunteer power we need to win in California’s fast-paced political landscape. What the Deputy Chapter Director will do
The Deputy Chapter Director is responsible for advancing Sierra Club California’s statewide objectives through policy advocacy, campaign management, and organizational leadership. Their main responsibility includes overseeing priority legislative and regulatory campaigns, while aligning with Sierra Club national priorities and 2030 goals.
Key parts of the job include:
- Lead and develop a team (supervising 3–6 staff), supporting accountability, growth, and a collaborative, inclusive culture
- Translate strategy into execution, partnering with the Chapter Director and policy/organizing leaders to plan, run, and evaluate campaigns
- Drive alignment across Sierra Club in California, helping connect chapters, staff, and volunteers with each other and with national teams
- Provide operational oversight (budgets, grants, compliance, reporting, and smart resource allocation)
- Represent Sierra Club California externally building working relationships and supporting advocacy and communications, including Spanish-language press where relevant

- Salary range: $105,000–$115,000 annually, plus benefits and 401(k)
