Folks like you are the backbone of the movement to ensure wildlife and wild places are protected, clean air and water are accessible to all and devastating effects of climate change are fought. Give today to continue this vital work.
The Sierra Club dates back to 1892 and is the oldest and largest environmental advocacy organization in North America. Our mission is to explore, enjoy, and protect the planet. Since 1992, the Delaware Chapter has blazed trails to protect the environment and to provide opportunities to enjoy and explore the natural beauty of our state.
As a volunteer-run grassroots organization, we are working to protect our air and water quality and supporting state legislation and policies to reduce the negative impacts from climate change on those precious resources now and in the future.
Take Action To Stop The Rate Hikes, Before Its Too Late!
Legislators are backing away from their promise to protect us from rate hikes by Delmarva Power and Data Center Developers. Two bills are before the General Assembly right now and facing bi-partisan push back due to a massive lobbying effort by these large corporations.
We need you to remind legislators who they work for and tell them to pass House Bill 233 and Senate Bill 326 to make sure data centers pay their fair share and cap ramped utility spending on our dime.
Check out our fact sheets on these two bills below.
Global Wind Day & End Of Session Celebration
Global Wind Day Picnic
Saturday, July 18th @ 1PM
Location: Cape Henlopen State Park
Join us as we celebrate Global Wind Day at Cape Henlopen State Park! You will get a chance to meet other people curious or supportive about offshore wind and hear from speakers who can share about the current status of the journey to secure clean and renewable energy!
We will be meeting at the Main Pavilion at Cape Henlopen State Park, you must pay for state park entry ($5 for Delaware Residents/ $10 for Out of State). Parking costs to the state are not covered by the ticket cost.
Join us as we gather for a summer picnic to celebrate the end of Legislative Session. This is a chance for you to learn more about the Sierra Club Delaware Chapter and connect with other volunteers. The Celebration will be from 1-3pm, and you are invited to stay afterward as we play environment- and nature-themed games at the pavilion or go on a lovely hike around the pond!
Energy bills are up again, but why? As we did last year, we put out a series of short videos that break down why energy prices are going up, and why they are likely to continue going up in the future unless we drastically correct course and bring more clean power online in Delaware.
We also go over some more misinformation being put out by fossil fuel front groups and misinformed legislators. We also share some information on how Data Centers will raise rates for Delaware Electric Co-op and DEMEC (municipal energy utility) customers, even when data centers are in New Castle County. Check it out below!
Right now, about 50% of our members are not receiving our emails! That is usually because when you unsubscribe from a national Sierra Club (or partner) email, they automatically unsubscribe you from our Chapter emails as well. I know, it's frustrating, to say the least. However, you can easily fix it so you can receive JUST our emails.
