TSPLOST

During the 2015 legislative session, Georgia State Senators and Representatives passed HB 170, a bill authorizing local counties to pursue a transportation special purpose local option sales tax (TSPLOST) of up to one percent. Unlike the 2012 Transportation Investment Act, this TSPLOST:

- The sales tax expires after 5 years
- Counties can choose whether they want to pursue the tax
- Counties can decide whether they want to work with another county to develop a project list

This is an opportunity for local counties and cities to invest in projects that create greater transportation choices. So far, only Fulton county is actively pursuing the sales tax.*** For more information, visit www.fultoncountyga.gov/TSPLOST

The Georgia Chapter met with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, Citizens for Progressive Transit, Partnership for Southern Equity, Georgia Bikes, PEDS, and the Southern Environmental Law Center to develop recommendations on the types of projects that should be included in Fulton County’s TSPLOST project list.
