Detroit Activist Night and Collaborative Lyrics

The Sierra Club Michigan Chapter kicked off 2025 with a bang at the Detroit office. A welcome crew gathered for the first Activist Night of the year to get the creative juices flowing. We not only learned about but actually MADE hip-hop with local rap phenom Greg "GMac" McKenzie to support our ongoing efforts for land conservation, clean air, clean water and "a livable world." Please read the amazing lyrics we collaboratively put together to tell the Sierra Club story in a NEW way:

The waters on fire,

can't breathe the air

We have the power!

And this we declare

30 by 30

are you aware?

Millions are dying,

no hope or a prayer

30 percent of

the land that we share

Must be preserved,

we solemnly swear

By 2030

we have to prepare!

An equitable future,

our children are heir

Collective survival

requires we care

Join in our struggle

5 years to repair

A livable world

please join us there

Sierra Club's fight:

clean water, clean air!
