Each spring, the Michigan Sierra Club organizes a lobby day for our activists to descend on the State Capitol and rally legislators around Sierra Club priority legislation. On Thursday, May 15 join Sierra Club volunteers and members in Lansing to do just that.
Lobby Day brings together like-minded Sierra Club members from across the state to educate lawmakers about important environmental issues that YOU care about. We achieved major wins last session, including passing some of the most ambitious and comprehensive clean energy legislation in the country. However, there’s still more work to do to protect our communities and waterways.
Plastic pollution is an emerging public health issue and poses significant risks to ecosystems, wildlife and human health by contaminating water sources, entering the food chain and contributing to environmental degradation. This is an important issue to bring to the attention of our lawmakers and urge bold policy measures to help safeguard both public and environmental health.
No prior lobbying experience is necessary but pre-registration is required. We will train you for your lobby meetings and provide materials! We can’t wait to spend this lobby day with you!
Sierra Club Michigan Lobby Days are open to everyone, and breakfast and lunch are provided. Your donation of $5 or more helps offset the event costs and provides funding for ongoing legislative work. If the cost is prohibitive please use the code "grassroots" to waive the fee.
