Washington, DC -- According to E&E News, the Super PAC supporting Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, Donald Trump’s nominee to be EPA Administrator, is set to continue operations even in the event that Pruitt be confirmed.

The Super PAC, Liberty 2.0, has taken in hundreds of thousands in contributions from fossil fuel companies.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

“The fact that Scott Pruitt intends to take big cash from the very same big polluters he is supposed to be monitoring as EPA administrator is unprecedented and a clear danger to the health of our families. There’s no other way to say it: Scott Pruitt is unfit to be dogcatcher, let alone the EPA Administrator. This is a man who has padded his campaign coffers every time he sued to block America’s safeguards for clean air and water, and now he wants to continue raking it big polluter dollars despite being the EPA Administrator.

“It’s clear that Pruitt will only protect one thing if he’s confirmed: the profits of the fossil fuel companies who financially back him, and Senators must reject him.
