Phoenix, AZ - Senator Flake previously voted for a Republican Tax plan which has only gotten worse since, and which contradicts his own stated principles on multiple counts. Now, he has an opportunity to take a principled stand as other Republican leaders ignore promises made to him about reaching a solution for undocumented children.
In Response, Sierra Club Arizona Chapter Director Sandy Bahr Released the Following Statement:
“Senator Flake has repeatedly articulated principles that stand in total contrast to process and policy behind what is shaping up to be the worst piece of legislation in a generation, which is why he should vote to stop this scam in its tracks.
“This massive tax cut for corporate polluters and the richest Americans is being rushed through in violation of all norms and process, will add $1.5 trillion in federal debt, and will ultimately fall on the backs of working families when it results in cuts to Social Security, Medicare and critical programs that safeguard our health at the Environmental Protection Agency.
“It’s time for Senator Flake to announce that he will oppose this tax scam.”
