COLUMBUS, OH -- Today, former coal lobbyist and current acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler will be in Ohio just days after announcing a plan to gut the Clean Power Plan that will result in up to 1,400 premature deaths per year according to the EPA’s own statistics.

In response, Chad Stephens, Conservation Program Coordinator for the Sierra Club Ohio Chapter released the following statement:

"As he does the dirty work for the corporate polluters who used to sign his paychecks, Andrew Wheeler is responsible for pushing an unlawful Dirty Power Plan that will continue to pollute Ohio's air and water, while doing nothing to support inevitable and critically important transition for Ohio's coal communities. Wheeler may be from Ohio but his ideas are straight from the swamp that is the Trump Administration, and his toxic record is not welcome here. Sierra Club’s Ohio members are fighting to create good - family sustaining - clean energy jobs that protect our clean air and water, and we will not stand idly by while Wheeler and Trump try to sell our health and our irreplaceable natural resources off to billionaire coal executives."
