WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA) passed out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee with a 15-5 vote. This historic bipartisan bill would invest nearly $1.4 billion for states, territories, and Tribes to amplify their work in recovering, conserving, and protecting at-risk wildlife and habitat.

In response, Kirin Kennedy, Director of People and Nature Policy released the following statement:

“Biodiversity is the key to a healthy, livable planet, and without meaningful investments in protection of our wildlife and habitats, we risk losing clean air and water and sufficient food to sustain us all.

By providing funding to state and Tribal leaders to collaboratively conserve and restore fish and wildlife species at risk of extinction, we create a more livable and sustainable future for generations to come.

Today we saw tremendous bipartisan support for investing in wildlife conservation, and we urge Congress to follow suit and pass this landmark bill.”
