NATIONWIDE – Today, governors from 11 states – California, Colorado, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington – announced they are joining together in a new Affordable Clean Car Coalition which will help states tackle vehicle pollution and lower barriers for consumers to more affordably own, drive, charge, and maintain clean cars.

The goals of the coalition are to work together to develop the next generation of clean car standards; work with manufacturers, labor, and other stakeholders; develop solutions across state lines; and ensure investments in charging infrastructure necessary for the EV transition.

In response, Sierra Club Clean Transportation for All Director Katherine García released the following statement:

“No matter how hard he tries, Trump cannot stop the national movement towards cleaner cars. We’re proud of these 11 states for joining together to push forward access to electric vehicles at a time when the federal government is beholden to the fossil fuel industry and working overtime to attack clean vehicles. The leadership of these governors will help save families money on fuel, improve public health, and encourage American global competitiveness on clean technology.”
