Late last Friday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the fracked gas Mountain Valley Pipeline’s (MVP) request to bore under 183 streams and wetlands at 120 locations in Virginia and West Virginia.

Governor Hogan announced he would let the Maryland Legislature passed climate solutions bill to become law. SB 528 will cut carbon pollution by 60% by 2031, and begin to reduce pollution from buildings and homes by shifting away from using fossil fuels for heating.

Albany, NY - On Friday, April 8, 2022 Governor Hochul and the State Legislature came to an agreement on a $220 billion state budget that included historic funding for critical environmental programs, but missed opportunities to enact important climate policies required to advance the goals of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The final SFY 2022 budget includes landmark investments in wetlands protection, clean energy, water infrastructure, and climate resilience. Today the Wisconsin Public Services Commission (PSC) approved the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center with two votes of support and one abstention. Koshkonong Solar Energy Center will add 300 megawatts (MW) of solar energy and 165 MW of battery storage to the energy grid, continuing Wisconsin’s much-needed transition to clean, renewable energy.

Rio Grande LNG, a fracked gas export terminal proposed for construction in South Texas, requested an extension from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the facility to come online in 2028. Rio Grande LNG was initially expecting to be operational by 2026.

Today, the Recovering America's Wildlife Act (RAWA) passed out of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee with a 15-5 vote. This historic bipartisan bill would invest nearly $1.4 billion for states, territories, and Tribes to amplify their work in recovering, conserving, and protecting at-risk wildlife and habitat.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Moments ago, in a bipartisan effort, the Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Justice Jackson, the first Black woman to be nominated to the High Court, had previously been confirmed by the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support three times. She will bring a range of experience to the Supreme Court, including having been a public defender, serving on the U.S. Sentencing Commission, and serving as a judge for the majority of the past 10 years.
