Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

Protect the Laguna Madre: Stop Banking on Rio Grande LNGThreeLiquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export terminals are proposed at the Port of Brownsville. Opposition to the proposals continue to grow as the people of the Rio Grande Valley learn more about the projects. The community group Save RGV From LNG has spearheaded the efforts to get the information out to the public that is left out of presentations and communication from the companies; information like pollution, risks to public health and safety, pipeline hazards, affects to the local economy, diversification of tax dollars, and more. The effort is now a coalition with the Sierra Club, Rainforest Action Network, Friends of the Earth France, and Not Here Not Anywhere. The efforts has led to project design changes, hundreds of FERC interventions, preventing tax abatements, and stopping financing from international banks.
