  • See the webinar, Protect Our Land: No Carbon Pipelines, November, 2021.  Iowa is ground zero for two new proposed CO2 pipelines, Summit Pipeline & Navigator Pipeline.  Pipeline construction can be devastating to our land.  Hear how construction of the Dakota Access pipeline harmed Iowa farmland.  On the webinar you'll hear from Janet Holmes who has been meticulously documenting and investigating the damage to Iowa's farmland from the Dakota Access pipeline construction.  Janet has real examples of farmers who've had to lower their Corn Suitability Rating, are having major drainage issues to this day, and who still see a scar across their land.

  • View the webinar "Supreme Beef and Iowa's CAFO Problem: Sacrificing Iowa's Water for Big Ag".  Since 2017,  Sierra Club Iowa Chapter and Iowa Environmental Council have been organizing to stop Supreme Beef, an 11,600 head cattle feedlot, from building at the headwaters of Bloody Run Creek.  Sadly, this isn’t the only example of CAFOs and industrial agriculture sacrificing our water.  Our expert panelists dig-in to the Supreme Beef CAFO fight as an example to show the impact the CAFO industry is having on water quality, how we got here today, and why we have to act now to clean up our water.  June, 2021

Rally

  • Rally in Support of CAFO moratorium - Our bill for a moratorium on new and expanding factory farms was introduced in the Iowa House and the Iowa Senate!  We celebrated this milestone and showed statewide support for a factory farm moratorium in a rally!  See our rally for a CAFO moratorium Speakers Include: Barb Kalbach, Family Farmer; Representative Art Staed, House Bill Sponsor; John Gilbert, Family Farmer; Carolyn Raffensperger, Chair of the Sierra Club Iowa Chapter and Executive Director of the Science and Environmental Health Network; and more!  February, 2021
