So, you’ve finally purchased that EV. Well done! Or maybe you haven’t. We won’t judge. Anyway, you now have an unneeded car that you need to dispose of.
While we don’t have a catchy jingle, we humbly suggest that you donate your old car to Sierra Club Foundation, for the benefit of the New Jersey Chapter. We also accept boats, motorcycles, trucks, and RVs.
It’s really easy to do. Just call 855-337-4377 or visit scfch.careasy.org/index.html
Indicate that the donation is for the New Jersey Chapter. The Sierra Club Foundation will arrange for free vehicle pickup and the subsequent vehicle sale. When the vehicle is sold, you will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the sale. The proceeds (less a sales commission) will be remitted to the New Jersey Chapter. We will use the funds to help preserve a clean and healthy environment for kids and grownups and, of course, wildlife.
What’s more, the sale of the old vehicle may in itself be an environmentally friendly act. Many old cars, when sold, are stripped down for parts. The steel will be salvaged and recycled. (The steel industry uses 74% less energy by recycling steel instead of producing new steel.) Also, any motor oil remaining in the vehicle will be safely reused and will not become a contaminant.
We recognize that not everyone is in a position to donate a vehicle. Fortunately, we also accept cash and credit cards. You may have seen our summer appeal letter. If not, you may receive another at year-end. In fact, we will gratefully accept your donation anytime, at https://www.sierraclub.org/new-jersey Look for the red donate button at the top right.
As always, we thank you for your support!
