Student Action Committee

The Student Action Committee's Chair and Refounder is Olivia Xu, and it was previously known as the Youth Committee. The committee consists of approximately 25 dedicated high school students from across the state, including Tanush Siva, Alex Chia, Shriyaa Madineni, Sophie Sun, and others, who work on various projects. They are actively working on proposing a composting program to Monroe Township, pushing West Windsor-Plainsboro to adopt electric school buses, and in the meantime, hosting tables, including a thrift store, at local farmers' markets to fundraise for endorsed candidate Mikie Sherrill. The committee actively writes on various subjects, including emails to legislators regarding the Green Amendment and artificial turf, as well as articles on plastics, and engages in phone banking for the Green Amendment.

They are always actively looking for guidance, opportunities, and ideas to boost youth involvement in policy to drive generational progress for a sustainable future! If you are interested and are a college student or high school student, please feel free to contact Olivia or Committee Secretary Alex Chia at njsierrayouth@newjersey.sierraclub.org if you have any questions! Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO)

Our motto is “No Child Left Inside.” NJ ICO is dedicated to providing safe and fun wilderness trips for children and teens who otherwise would have limited access to the outdoors. Volunteer leaders collaborate with community partners to facilitate, lead and promote events that will educate and foster a love of nature and the outdoors for these young people. Our program works to reduce barriers by providing gear, transportation and trip fees. Our leaders create opportunities to explore, enjoy, and advocate for nature.
