The Allegheny Group of the Sierra Club is proud to announce that five of our nine endorsed candidates won their races in the general election on November 3.

A big positive of this general election is that 75% of eligible voters in Allegheny County voted!! To put that in context, 71% voted in 2016; 24% in 2017; 58% in 2018, 29% in 2019.

Our Victories: 

Mike Doyle (US House 18):  Won over Luke Wegman (R) 69% - 31%

Emily Kinkead (PA House 20):   Won 95% (unopposed- some write-ins)

Sara Innamorato (PA House 21):  Won over John Waugh  66% - 34%

Summer Lee (PA House 34):  96% (unopposed- some write-ins)

Jessica Benham (PA House 36):  Won over Adrian Doyle (R) 62% - 38%

Although the candidates listed below ran very strong, significant campaigns and garnered early leads they were unable to secure a victory. 

Emily Skopov (PA House 28):  Lost to Robert Mercuri (R) 46% - 54%

Lissa Shulman (PA House 30):  Lost to Lori Mizgorski (R) 45% - 55%

Michele Knoll (PA House 44):  Lost to Valerie Gaydos (R) 45% - 55%

Pam Iovino (PA Senate 37):  Lost to Devlin Robinson (R) 49% - 51% 

A BIG Thank You to all Sierra Club members who supported these candidates with their time, energy and finances.  We know you made a difference!  We look forward to your assistance for the local races in the Primary election in 2021.
