First elected in 1987, Pelosi rose through leadership to become the first and only woman elected as Speaker of the House.

Washington, DC – Today, House Republicans passed the so-called "Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act” or SAVE Act, legislation they claim is an effort to protect elections but would actually further disenfranchise voters and add onerous steps to hinder eligible voters’ ability to lawfully cast their ballot.

WASHINGTON, DC - Former Congressman Tom Suozzi (D) today won the endorsements of the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, the NRDC Action Fund, and the New York League of Conservation Voters Federal Fund in the special election to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House.
