The Santa Lucia Chapter is seeking candidates for its Executive Committee
The Executive Committee (ExCom) supports the governance of the Chapter in accordance with the goals set forth by the National Sierra Club. These goals include outreach, conservation, environmental justice, political advocacy, diversity, and helping people experience nature. We are a friendly and active group that currently meets on the third Monday of every month in the evening to determine activities and set the policy direction for the Chapter.
ExCom members are elected by members of the Santa Lucia Chapter. This year there are three ExCom positions up for election. Each position is for a three-year term. Nominations are open through Thursday, September 10, 2026, for the election to be held in November 2026. Newly elected members will take office in December.
EXCOM RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Understand and promote the National Sierra Club’s mission, policies and directives
- Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings and bimonthly General Meetings
- Promote and support the Outings, Political, and Conservation Programs
- Participate in long range program and fiscal planning
- Actively assist in fundraising activities or contribute financially
- Ensure financial stability and solvency; allocate resources
- Monitor, question, and evaluate club activities
- Contribute a sense of camaraderie and teamwork
- Candidates should plan on volunteering a minimum of 6-10 hours a month

EXCOM DETAILS: The ExCom meets via Zoom (usually) and/or in person. ExCom members are required to be Sierra Club members. Membership is only $15/year and scholarships are available.
