2022 Chapter & Group Executive Committee (ExCom) Elections

The Sierra Club Washington State Chapter is governed by an Executive Committee (ExCom) made up of volunteer leaders from across the state. This executive committee is responsible for:

  • Financial Oversight: Approve the chapter’s annual budget, including staffing structure, and provide ongoing oversight and approval of any significant budget changes.
  • Conservation and Endorsements: Approve chapter campaigns developed by chapter volunteer leaders and set policy as needed on high-profile issues. The ExCom also approves endorsements for ballot initiatives, statewide, and local elections.
  • Planning: Help shape long-range plans to guide the chapter on achieving statewide objectives.
  • Committees: The ExCom is empowered to create volunteer committees and teams to address important environmental issues and appoint committee leads.
  • Recruitment: Recruit and onboard new ExCom members.
  • Ambassadors: Visible Sierra Club leaders engaged in developing and strengthening Sierra Club’s community partnerships

This year's chapter ExCom election will be held via email from mid-November to the end of December. There are currently four candidates for four open positions. If you're a Sierra Club member who is interested in running for the executive committee, either this year or in the future, contact: info@washington.sierraclub.org

Within the WA Sierra Club there are also seven local groups, which are governed by local Executive Committees. The role of group ExComs is similar to the chapter's within the geography of the group.

  • Loo Wit Group -- Vancouver WA plus SW WA counties
  • South Sound Group -- Olympia and Thurston county
  • North Olympic Group -- Jefferson and Clallam counties
  • Seattle Group -- City of Seattle
  • Sno-Isle Group -- Snohomish and Island counties
  • Mt Baker Group -- Bellingham plus Whatcom and Skagit counties
  • Upper Columbia River Group -- Spokane plus NE WA counties

Watch your email in mid-November for your chance to vote for both WA Chapter and local Sierra Club Group ExComs.
