The SussexDE section of the Delaware Sierra Club works on planning and communication events and activities in Sussex County to enact the mission of the Sierra Club. We look for others downstate who are passionate about exploring, enjoying and protecting our environment. Just like the national and state Sierra Clubs, SussexDE is a 100% grassroots organization and everything we do is planned by volunteers and everyone is welcome, whether you're a lifetime member of Sierra Club, a supporter or just looking to learn more.
SussexDE:
- Co-sponsors events, movies, outdoor activities such as Hands Across the Sand and Coast Day;
- Works with the Chapter to advocate for environmental legislation such as clean water, plastics free Delaware, banning off-shore drilling, and addressing climate change issues;
- Collaborates with local groups to address issues critical to Sussex County such as development, buffers and open space;
- Plans initiatives as suggested by supporters such as exploring creating high school Sierra Club sections, learning about plant-based eating and sustainability, and planning a climate change event; and
- Communicates events and activities and information related to Sussex County.
