Sacramento, CA - Today, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) passed the Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) rule, which will transition the state to 100% zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales by 2035. The adoption of the ACC II rule follows a 2020 executive order from Governor Newsom calling for this transition. Sierra Club California, along with numerous other environmental NGOs and environmental justice organizations, has advocated for years for electrifying our transportation sector, and this rule will accelerate that transition.

Boston — Today, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed into law ‘An Act driving clean energy and offshore wind.’ The law will expand clean energy development, transportation electrification, and building decarbonization measures to create good-paying jobs and help reach legally binding statewide emissions reduction targets of 50% by 2030.
Boston, MA - Last night, Governor Baker signed a transportation bond bill with over $11 billion in funding for a wide range of clean transportation projects, including making streets safer for biking and walking, investing in fare-free bus pilot programs, electrifying buses and commuter rail, cleaning up pollution from heavy-duty vehicles, building out electric vehicle charging infrastructure, promoting e-bikes as a replacement for car trips through rebates, and repair our bridges and roads.

The provisions in this bill will support much needed progress to reduce emissions 50% by 2030 as required by law. Governor Baker must now sign the bill into law by the end of the month.
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, after over a year of public pressure over the Postal Service’s decision to only make 10 percent of its new truck fleet electric, the agency announced it would commit to at least 40 percent of the fleet to be electric.
The bill aims to clean up the shipping industry, protect the health of port communities, address environmental injustice, and provide solutions to the climate crisis. If ocean shipping were a country, it would be the sixth largest producer of climate pollution globally.
