Speak Out Against Border Wall Construction in Laredo!

On Tuesday, September 24th, there will be a Border Wall Townhall meeting in Laredo, Texas at 6 pm. The Townhall meeting will take place at the UT Health Science Center - Laredo campus, on the 2nd floor auditorium (1937 Bustamante, next to LMC).

The event will feature several speakers representing different organizations and institutions that are working to fight the construction of the border wall, including: the National Butterfly Center located in the Rio Grande Valley, the Texas Civil Rights Project, EarthJustice, Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center, Rio Grande International Study Center.

There will also be a performance piece from a local riverfront land owner, Elsa Hull, followed by a call to action from the Where’s the Emergency National Coalition. The event will end with questions and answers.

Trump’s administration is planning to take $3.6 billion from the military to fund the racist border wall. Of that amount, $1.3 billion is heading toward the Laredo sector to build 52 miles of wall.

There have been NO studies, NO transparency, and  NO process that involves the people of our community in making these drastic decisions. This is a radical seizure of public and private lands by the Trump Administration.

We need you’re voice. We’ll see you there.
