True Decarbonization of VT Electricity

Decarbonizing Vermont Power:  The challenge of large hydro

Contrary to common beliefs, there are significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions from Vermont's electricity.  Biomass electricity and fugitive emissions of methane are two of these.  In this session, we'll be talking about emissions associated with large hydroelectric facilities, which for us mostly means Canadian Hydro.  We were joined by, attorney Kim Hayden and solar entrepreneur Bill Bender, along with our own chapter energy chair, Steve Crowley, as they discussed where these emissions come from, how they affect our energy portfolio, and how that all could change for the better. Recorded March 10, 2021.
