Politics and Elections

Electing candidates to local, state, and federal office is instrumental to the development of sound environmental policy. As citizens, it is our responsibility to support those individuals who demonstrate a commitment to the environment in their capacity as an elected official. Through volunteering for a campaign or giving political contributions, members of the Sierra Club strive to elect committed individuals who will stand up for the environment and our communities!

The Chapter has Political Committees at the statewide and local group level responsible for candidate endorsements and potential contributions from our Political Action Committee (PAC).

The Vermont Chapter is working diligently to:

  • Host candidate forums.
  • Prepare candidate questionnaires to help determine which candidates to endorse.
  • Interview candidates.
  • Endorse candidates.
  • Campaign to elect endorsed candidates.
