The mostly white active participants in Vermont's environmental advocacy world have long recognized the importance of engaging with a more diverse community, in terms of both economics and racial justice. But it has been challenging. How can Vermont's environmental community more effectively include those voices and how can VT more effectively lend our support to crucial causes of racial and economic justice?

Lisa Ryan, Program Director of the Rutland County Community Justice Center at BROC a Vermont Community Leader, Activist, Practitioner spoke about her experiences growing up as a black woman in Vermont.
