One day: A year of impact

Giving Tuesday has become a world-wide phenomenon since first launching in 2012. It provides a wonderful platform for nonprofits to raise our voices together to shine a light on all the great work being done and ask for support to advance that work. At the Wisconsin Chapter, whether we’re working to curb climate change or protect our wildlife and make the outdoors accessible to all, we rely on the generosity of donors like you to support the work we do year round.

What you might not know, is that the Sierra Club Wisconsin chapter offers some unique ways to give. Whether your giving budget is $5 or includes multiple digits, we have options…some of which won’t cost you a penny. Yep, it’s true. Read on to find the option that best fits your giving plans and budget.

Non-Tax deductible donations by check or credit card. If you don’t require a tax-deduction for your gift this is the way to go. These unrestricted gifts are VITAL to the chapter’s ability to move our citizen based advocacy efforts forward. Credit card gifts can be made here. Checks made payable to Sierra Club Wisconsin can be mailed to Sierra Club Wisconsin, 754 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703

Need a tax-deduction? If you’d like to make a charitable donation to the chapter you can do so by check made payable to Sierra Club Foundation with Wisconsin Chapter in the memo field. The Sierra Club Foundation acts as fiscal sponsor for the charitable work of the chapter. While these funds can only be used for certain aspects of our work, they are also key components to moving our issue campaigns and educational work forward. Mail these gifts to the chapter office at 754 Williamson St., Madison, WI 53703.

You can also make a tax-deductible gift to support our work through Community Shares of Wisconsin (CSW). There are two options for CSW giving. Make a direct donation and select Sierra Club Foundation here. Or, if your employer offers a workplace giving campaign with Community Shares you can use pre-tax, payroll deduction and designate your gift to support our work. Find out if your employer participates here or how they can become a participant here.

CARS: Another tax-deductible option is to donate that old car, truck, boat, RV or motorcycle you don’t need anymore. This donation won’t cost you anything to make and could yield thousands for the chapter. The Sierra Club Foundation partners with CARS, an organization that will haul away your unused vehicle. By selecting “Wisconsin Chapter” when scheduling your pickup, you can be certain your gift will support our work right here at home.  Find out more here.
