Honoring Dr. Al Gedicks

Al Gedicks memorial poster

A memorial for Dr. Al Gedicks will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 am-3:00 pm Central, at the Menominee Casino Convention Center in Keshena, Wisconsin. A driving force of environmental justice alliances fighting mining companies in the Western Great Lakes region, Al passed away on Saturday, May 9, after a long bout with cancer.

Al Gedicks was a long-time ally and friend of the Wisconsin Chapter and we fought the Flambeau mine and Crandon mine proposal side-by-side including important legal fights.  We also worked together to pass the landmark 1997 Prove It First (“Moratorium” law) for metallic sulfide mining that has shaken the sulfide mining industry to this day.

* Please R.S.V.P. for the memorial for planning purposes.  You can leave remembrances to be shared with family and friends whether or not you plan to attend at https://tinyurl.com/53b4ttya
