As part of the event, on Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. we’ll have a lively discussion on Facebook Live with some of our partners and fellow Community Shares Member Groups to talk about our collaborative efforts. During the first half of the show, we’ll be talking about the environmental and social justice impacts of Fossil Fuel infrastructure with Physicians for Social Responsibility Wisconsin, Midwest Environmental Advocates and League of Women Voters of Wisconsin. Then, at 4:30 pm we’ll be joined by 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired to talk about transportation policy in Wisconsin. The Big Share is a powerful, 36-hour, online fundraising event hosted by Community Shares of Wisconsin. Nearly 70 local non-profits all striving towards a safe, sustainable, and equitable Wisconsin will benefit from this day of giving alongside the Sierra Club Foundation (fiscal sponsor for the Wisconsin Chapter). We are strongest when we come together. Everything is interconnected — each of the nearly 70 participating non-profits have different missions, but each is a different piece of the puzzle. This is an opportunity for the people of Wisconsin to rally around organizations doing critical work to better our community in ways that will benefit everyone.
This year, our Big Share focus is on environmental justice and breaking down barriers. We believe everyone deserves the right to clean water, affordable energy, reliable public transportation, access to nature, and more. Come learn more about the work we do and the work we hope to do in the future!
