Continuing to fight back against Vallejo cement plant

For months now Solano Group has been among the leaders of a group of Vallejo residents opposing a proposed cement plant and marine port in South Vallejo that would devastate a disadvantaged neighborhood and impair Mare Island Strait, the Napa River, and potentially all of northern San Francisco Bay. The project was rejected by the city's planning commission in March, but an appeal by developers will be heard by the City Council in two hearings: May 30 and June 1 at Vallejo City Hall, 555 Santa Clara St.

Doors open for the May 30 hearing at 4 p.m. — an awkward time for many working residents who would like to attend and speak out. Project opponents are therefore looking for individuals who don’t intend to speak themselves, but who are willing to stand in line starting at 1 p.m. as a “placeholder” for a Fresh Air Vallejo member who can't be there until later. Please help us get good representation in the meeting and keep Building Trades supporters of this ill-conceived project from packing the hall.
