Beaman's Out and We're In the News: Sierra Club Volunteers Defend the Tennessee Valley

Over the past few days, Sierra Club has been in the news across Tennessee and the Valley—and that didn’t happen by accident. Congress has now confirmed four new members to the TVA Board, without Lee Beaman, who was removed from the nomination process. That outcome is a real win for the Tennessee Valley, and it’s one that our volunteers helped make possible.

From calling senators, submitting comments, talking with reporters, and speaking up about what TVA leadership should look like, our volunteers made noise when it mattered. They helped ensure that decision-makers—and the public—understood what was at stake: clean air and water, affordable power, and a TVA that serves the people of the Valley, not political or corporate interests.

That collective effort showed up in coverage across the state, with Sierra Club voices helping shape the story and keep public accountability front and center. You can read more about it here:

Thank you to everyone who took action, raised concerns, and stood up for the future of the Tennessee Valley. This victory belongs to you—and we’ll keep showing up to make sure power truly stays in the public’s hands.
