Bike infrastructure

Public car transportation is Marin County's #1 source of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Electric vehicles emit less emissions than gas powered vehicles, but are not as good as public transportation and active transportation (i.e., walking or biking). Marin County is an ideal location for bike transportation. It has a mild climate and low levels of rain. With the advent of e-Bikes, our hills are no longer a barrier.

Making bike transportation a reality requires investing in bike infrastructure. Many people will only use bikes for transit if they feel safe riding. Marin County has many bike paths, but often riding through any of our towns means leaving separated bike infrastructure and sharing the roads with cars.

The Sierra Club Marin group supports extensions of our bike infrastruture that connects networks and enhances safety.

The Marin County Bicycle Coalition maintains a list of bike infrastructure projects in Marin. The Sierra Club Marin Group has formally endorse the Better Bridgeway project in Sausalito.
