$25,000 Challenge Match

Dear Friend,

In our Loma Prieta Chapter’s story, you are a hero

Thanks to your unwavering support, your Chapter remained a powerful and respected voice for our local environment throughout these past challenging years. We are grateful to have you in our community of changemakers, and we trust that you will continue with us, to ensure that environmental protection is a high priority in our region.

This year, again, we have been fortunate to have a wonderful supporter and volunteer who has offered a generous $25,000 dollar-for-dollar challenge to encourage you to renew your previous donation, or even better, to increase it! Your gift will go twice as far, so please give as generously as possible.

Your gift helped us advance our fight against climate change by steering our region away from burning fossil fuels. We successfully advocated for electrification reach codes in San Carlos, Daly City, and South San Francisco and continued supporting the ongoing creation of robust Climate Action Plans for the cities of Cupertino, Palo Alto, and Santa Clara, as well as Santa Clara County.

We have advanced actions for the protection of the San Francisco Bay, by ensuring that open space is a priority, that housing is located outside of habitat-rich wetlands, and by successfully challenging an application for future on-demand ferry service throughout the Bay without any environmental review.

Furthermore, we have expanded support for the protection of the Bay by educating,  training, and nurturing scores of advocates through our Bay Advocate Program and have influenced hundreds of elected officials and community leaders who attended our acclaimed 3-day webinar series.

Your past donation has also enabled us in San Jose to promote low-carbon communities like Google’s mixed-use Transportation Oriented Development and rally effective opposition to an environmentally disruptive electronic billboard proposal.

Our environment relies upon you and us working together. Thanks to private donors like you, the Loma Prieta Chapter continues to be an effective and independent advocate for a
healthy future for generations now and to come. Only a sliver of your membership dues to Sierra Club National is returned to your Chapter, so please make your most generous gift by December 31st so that it will be doubled and go twice as far for our local environment.
