September 17th deadline; your opinions count! Take our survey to tell us what you think about Sunnyvale's big plans for Moffett Park
Sunnyvale’s General Plan calls for a citywide target of 5.34 acres of open space per 1,000 residents; that would amount to 160 acres for this Moffett Park plan. However, the City defines “open space” very broadly. Will it be landscaping on corporate campuses? Bike paths? Parks? Natural Habitat? We want to know which kinds of open space you think are most important to include in the Moffett Park Specific Plan.
Only until September 17, Sunnyvale is accepting public comment on the scope of its planned Moffett Park Environmental Impact Report and will soon begin a series of public workshops focused on how Open Space and Urban Ecology will fit into their land use plan for the area. Help shape the future of the Ravenswood Business District by attending the next public workshop on Sept 22nd!
East Palo Alto is updating its 2013 Ravenswood Business District / 4 Corners Specific Plan. Several projects have been proposed recently that exceed the amount of development assumed in the 2013 plan.
At the Sept 22nd workshop, discussion will include the benefits and impacts on the city and its residents, including topics such as new community spaces, residential units, jobs for residents, increased city revenues, traffic congestion, displacement, and decreased housing affordability.
Your help and insight are needed to explore strategies to ensure a vibrant new neighborhood for Ravenswood Business District! This workshop will be held virtually, with Spanish interpretation provided. |
Join the 37th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day! This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 18 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
There are over 50 cleanup locations to choose from throughout San Mateo County! Cleanup events are already scheduled in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San Mateo, Pacifica, Daly City, and more local areas.

Redwood City introduces awesome rebate programs for building electrification, solar installation, electric vehicle chargers, and more!
Redwood City homeowners can now receive $500 rebates for new heat pump hot water heaters, high-efficiency heat pumps, and electrical panel upgrades if required for new heat pump equipment.
There are additional rebates for income-qualified utility bill discount programs. Additional rebates for heat pumps and heat pump water heaters - and more! - are available through the BayREN program and Peninsula Clean Energy.
Redwood City also has a new rebate programs available for residential solar, electric vehicle chargers, electric lawn care equipment, and electric leaf blowers.
The applications are user friendly and open to all Redwood City residents. Act NOW, live healthier, and do your bit for climate change!

Join the Sept 18th Webinar: History and Mystery of the Refuge and the Bay
Learn about the Bay’s history and the answers to some mysteries! The webinar will take place Sept 18th from 1 - 2:30 PM PDT, hosted by Don Edwards SF Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
The Refuge was created in 1972, but this story starts 200 years earlier when Europeans discovered San Francisco Bay. Learn about the Bay’s history and the answers to mysteries such as: Why are mercury and gold a lethal duo? How did silver mining in Nevada affect the bay? Why was Oscar the Grouch happier 60 years ago than today?
Join docent Larry Rosenblum to discover the answer to these mysteries and others, then take a virtual tour through one of the marshes of the Refuge.

Your Loma Prieta Chapter is organizing a network of advocacy teams at the city level.
These are city-focused teams with the twin goals of spearheading actions to combat climate change and to conserve and restore natural habitats.
You will be working with city council members, key city staff, county officials, and other environmental activists. We welcome and educate those who are new to climate policy.
