I want to let you know that I have been elected, by the GRG Executive Committee, as the new Chair of the Guadalupe Regional Group. There are three regional groups; the GRG, the Peninsula Regional Group (PRG), and the San Carlos-Belmont group. I am looking forward to serving you and growing our Sierra Club.
My Background
I retired from a successful Silicon Valley career 7 years ago. Since then, I have devoted myself to fighting climate change by volunteering for the Loma Prieta Chapter of the Sierra Club, based in Palo Alto. I am currently serving as the Outing Chair for the chapter, helping our amazing outings leaders with hundreds of Local Outings. I also continually serve, since 2021, on the Chapter Executive Committee.
My Goals
My goals for a vibrant Guadalupe Regional Group include:
- Support and Implement policies that mitigate Climate Change - the clear danger to our planet.
- Work to protect 30% of our Santa Clara and San Benito County land from development by 2030
- Advocate for Conservation goals to protect Green spaces
- Grow our GRG membership from 4500 to 15000
About the Guadalupe Regional Group Executive Committee
We have a GRG Executive Committee composed of five members. There are three open slots coming up - And I”m looking for folks who want to serve for a two-year term. Your name will be placed on the ballot for the upcoming Fall Chapter Elections. This position would require a few hours/month, or more if you find something you are passionate about.
I want to thank Gary Latshaw, the outgoing GRG Chair, for his years of service. Gary will continue to serve on the GRG ExCom.
I’m looking forward to working for all of you in the coming months.
