Two Actions, One Valley: Take the Survey and Vote Yes on Santa Clara County Measure D

Coyote Valley Survey

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority (OSA) is requesting public input on the Coyote Valley Conservation Areas Master Plan (areas shaded yellow on the map above) This plan will guide restoration, access, and management of Coyote Valley. This is our opportunity to move from protection to restoration, and shape the future of Coyote Valley.

How Can you help?

👉 Take the survey:  https://www.openspaceauthority.org/cvcamp-survey

This survey closes on Sunday, May 31, 2026

Guidance for responding: When completing the survey, consider the Valley from the perspective of a native animal, e.g., bird, fox, newt.

Please emphasize that Coyote Valley should be managed first and foremost for wildlife habitat and ecological function. Support restoration of wetlands, grasslands, and native vegetation, and prioritize wildlife connectivity. Urge the Open Space Authority to minimize built infrastructure (i.e. trees before shade structures) and carefully limit trails and access to avoid encroachment into sensitive areas. Highlight the importance of buffering wildlife from human disturbance, including lighting, noise, and nighttime activity. As you respond, keep asking: “Is this element of the plan beneficial for wildlife and migratory birds?

At the same time, voters in Santa Clara County are currently deciding on Measure D, the Santa Clara Valley Wildfire Protection, Clean Water, and Open Space Act, which would provide long-term funding for habitat restoration, water protection, and stewardship. Please vote YES on D!
