Thank you for the positive impact you have made with your past support of your Loma Prieta Chapter. Last year we had many exciting successes for our local environment because people 
like you were active members of our community.
From successfully advocating for the expansion of protected lands in Coyote Valley, to successfully influencing first-in-the-nation legislation that limits or prohibits fracked gas in new buildings passed in 23 local municipalities, to protecting the Burlingame Shoreline from development, your generosity has helped safeguard the health of our regional environment.
In 2020 we are continuing our efforts to protect and preserve our local environment, and I hope that you will stand committed with us. Please renew your past support today to help us ensure that.
Climate change is a fact that we must address, so last year we fought successfully for gas ban ordinances and climate emergency declarations in more than 23 municipalities. Much more action is needed to resist the fossil fuel industry and the risk it poses to our planet and future generations. We still have a fighting chance against this engine of destruction.
November 2020 will be a critical election. The stakes are high; we can no longer accept politicians in office who do not protect their constituent’s health but prefer to destroy our environment for their own political and financial gain. We have researched and interviewed scores of candidates and have made our trustworthy endorsements, so when you vote you will be able to make the best choice for our environment.
Last year you helped us to permanently protect 937 acres of Coyote Valley, but we continue advocating to save the entire Valley. It is the only unpaved valley floor in our region, protecting San Jose from possible catastrophic floods and providing a critical passage for wildlife between the Diablo Range and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Without this Valley of Hearts’ Delight, we will jeopardize Silicon Valley’s water supply and flood protection lands as well as lose healthy populations of mountain lions, bobcats, foxes and many, many more species.
Additionally, we continue advocating for sustainable, walkable and bikeable communities, educating and supporting volunteer environmental activists, helping residents explore and enjoy our local environment through our outings programs, and last but not least, if needed, suing those who want to destroy our environment.
Thanks to your generosity we are the leading local voice for our environment, independent because the majority of our conservation funding comes from donors like you! Only a small fraction of your membership dues paid to the Sierra Club National are returned to your Loma Prieta Chapter, so your additional gift has a critical impact on the health of our local wildlife, open space, and natural resources.
