Clean Communities Project

Billions of federal dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) are becoming available at the state and local level for projects that will help transition us to a clean energy economy, creating 9 million jobs and reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2030. To seize this opportunity, the Sierra Club launched the Community Advocates Program.

Do you want to help? There are two Community Advocates efforts that you can participate in. The Community Advocates for Clean Energy of Greater Philadelphia is a program focused on southeast Pennsylvania. If you live in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, or Delaware Counties, learn more at www.cacephilly.com or contact them at phillyca@gmail.com for information.

If you live anywhere else in Pennsylvania, the Statewide Clean Communities Project is for you!

There are many ways to join this work. Project participants can choose to reach out to their local schools, write letters to the editor, share resources at community events, send text alerts,  participate in public outreach opportunities held by state agencies, or work with us to find the role that suits their interests, skills & schedule!

Calling all parents and guardians!

The Clean Communities Project is seeking community members who are willing to reach out to their school district's leaders. We want to make sure every school in Pennsylvania is aware of the funding opportunities available to support their clean energy transition.

The template letter linked below highlights these state and federal programs and encourages school districts to reach out if they need support.

Act Now: Send A Letter to Your School District

After you send your letter, email Nate Reagle to let Sierra Club know that your district has been contacted: nathan.reagle@sierraclub.org
