CLIMATE ACTION

Climate Change, Climate Warming, and Climate ‘Wierding’ are some of the names many use to note the changes to our weather and climate systems caused by burning fossil fuels for energy use in all areas of our daily lives.

The resulting impacts are many and affect regions of our Earth differently. These include longer and more severe rainstorms, stronger hurricanes and tornadoes, heatwaves and heat extremes, droughts, wildfires, species dying off, loss of habitat, the spread of disease-carrying insects and viruses, increasing potential for pandemics, and heat-triggered illnesses.

Climate change impacts are not distributed equally. Environmental justice research has shown that frontline communities—often low-income, Indigenous, and communities of color—experience disproportionate exposure to climate hazards, despite contributing the least to global emissions. This disparity underscores the need for climate solutions that are scientifically sound and rooted in equity, inclusion, and justice.
