Board Bios

Mickey Allison

An Oakland native with a bachelor’s in biology, masters in zoology from UC Davis, Mickey taught biology in public schools and community college. She has spent a lifetime outdoors - horseback riding, hiking, camping, backpacking, canoeing and spending summers in Canada on a small island with no electricity.  In 2004 she found a floating home in Sausalito and developed a deep attachment to Marin City through its library, and later as a volunteer science lab aide. Mickey loves being a teacher, a Sierra Club Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) leader, and researching environmental science issues for the Marin Group.

He brings experience in grassroots organizing and energy policy analysis from his time with the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign. He works on public lands advocacy and agroecology issues, and studies Sustainable Management at Presidio Graduate School.

Louis Nuyens

An environmentalist volunteer since early childhood, Louis’ sense of the importance of environmentalism has continued to deepen and grow. With environmentalist principles always a fundamental motivation, he has worked as a paid consultant and volunteer on many local, regional and occasionally national political campaigns. He has written pieces of legislation that are now state laws, performed data analyses that were critical to the closure or clean-up of dozens of dirty coal plants and other industrial facilities, organized public forums on diverse issues, worked in many capacities to preserve valuable natural habitats and resources. He is most passionate about seeking ways to prevent imminent extinction of the Earth's biodiversity and human societies, by addressing global climate change and the other converging crises that are symptoms of human overpopulation, as rapidly and effectively as possible. He has served on the Sierra Club's Marin Group ExCom since 2004 and as its chair for two years during that period.

Judy Schriebman

A Marin native, Judy has been a long-time activist for environmental causes from elementary school on. An active Girl Scout in a family of Scouts, where learning a variety of skills and

community service were family values. Summers were spent on long trips in the station wagon to every state and national park; creeks and lakes were especially treasured. She has a background in zoology and homeopathy. She holds an elected position on the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District board, and is active on three separate creek group boards. Clean water, a healthy ecosystem and a healthy community are her top priorities.
