Gay and Lesbian Sierrans (GLS) History

The first Gay and Lesbian Sierrans section was San Franciso GLS, founded in 1986. The Angeles Chapter GLS won recognition in 1988, after a two-year struggle. Loma Prieta GLS was third, becoming an official activity section in 1991. Its first hike was in Uvas Canyon, led by Mike Zampecini. Since then a number of other GLS sections have been established.
