2027 will be a pivotal year for climate action. The decisions made in the coming months will determine whether we avert the worst of what's coming or lock in decades of damage future generations will inherit. Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter, in collaboration with Climate Action Campaign, urges our leaders to prioritize climate action when the 120th U.S. Congress convenes in January.
The climate crisis is no longer a distant threat. Wildfires are destroying neighborhoods and burning millions of acres. Hurricanes are intensifying. Floods are swallowing communities. Historic droughts and record-breaking heat are straining our farms and food supplies, our energy infrastructure, and our families' budgets. Every American is paying the price for inaction — in lives lost, homes destroyed, and costs that won’t stop climbing.
Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is making things worse. By blocking wind and solar projects, propping up fossil fuels, rolling back climate protections, and treating our health as expendable, they are choosing polluters over people — and science denial over truth.
We cannot afford to wait.
If Democrats are able to secure a majority in the U.S. House and/or Senate after the upcoming election, their leadership will have an opportunity to act with the urgency this moment demands. As they consider their 2027 legislative priorities in the next few months, we need to show them that the American people expect to see climate action on the agenda. Act now by signing our petition calling on House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to MEET THIS MOMENT!
