Too Hot to Ignore: A Summer of Climate Action

By Melissa Farr, Senior Distributed Organizer, Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter

Summer 2026 was intense. Each day seemed to bring a new challenge, including extreme heat, wildlife smoke, and dangerous storms. In August, Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter joined the nationwide “Too Hot to Ignore” campaign to demonstrate that there is broad grassroots support for climate action.

Along with our allies at Climate Action Campaign, Clean Air Council, and Moms Clean Air Force, we brought our message of “climate can’t wait” to communities throughout Pennsylvania.

Ready to get involved? Climate Summer may be over, but our advocacy continues! The Chapter Advocacy Team (C.A.T.) meets virtually on the first Thursday of every month, and welcomes volunteers from across Pennsylvania to join our work.
