What Is Ready For 100?
Lower Merion Township Ready For 100 is the local branch of a national movement of people working to inspire our leaders to embrace a vision of healthier communities powered with 100% clean, renewable energy. We are volunteers and LM residents, asking our township and fellow citizens to commit to solutions that help us achieve 100% clean, renewable, and just energy.
Our Goals: We seek commitments to achieve 100% renewable energy sources for electricity by or before 2035 and for all energy usage in the Township by or before the year 2050. We believe that it is essential to set concrete goals and timetables because this will guide public and private decisionmaking. The goals will help us set priorities, and evaluate progress. It's not too late to get control over global warming.
A Positive and Supportive Group: We support an open and inclusive dialogue among government, residents, public institutions and businesses so we can all achieve this change together. We are committed to be positive and supportive to make the essential changes we need to save our planet. Each of us must do our part! And we want to have some fun along the way, after all, we are advocating for our life, our children and grandchildren, our health and our world.

Why Get Involved
“We are the last generation that can prevent irreparable damage to our planet.” - United Nations General Assembly President María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés
The United Nations warns that we have 11 more years to avoid irreparable damage to our climate. According to NASA, June 2019 was the hottest June on record and July 2019 was the hottest month in recorded history. Scientists say that greenhouse gases and global warming will lead to more extreme weather patterns like droughts and water shortages, wildfires, flooding, and stronger hurricanes. Most Americans want the federal government to reduce greenhouse gases and take action on climate change. However, too many of us feel helpless watching our federal government ignore this massive crisis.
Here’s the good news. We don’t need to wait for the federal government. We can fight climate change by working together.
We are building a base of everyday citizens taking climate action right here in our own community. The Ready for 100 Campaign is a signal to energy companies and to state and federal government that they must invest in infrastructure for clean and renewable energy, because we are moving forward and they must catch up. Americans have risen to great achievements many times before. Let’s be the generation to end global warming! Achieving 100% clean and renewable energy is both technologically and economically possible. All we need is the political will to get it done.
