Outings: Osmore Pond Winter Snowshoe

Osmore Pond Group
For the first part of its existence, the Sierra Club was an exclusive social outings club established to explore, enjoy, and protect the Sierra Nevadas. Over time, the club became more political and engaged with conservation, halting climate change, and addressing numerous other conservation issues. At the heart of the club is still our desire to get outside and explore.

Although our early days were mostly exclusive, we now strive to be inclusive and welcome to all. Many of our Vermont-based outings are for beginners or for those who are simply looking to connect with others. We also strive for our outings to be connected to our broader conservation goals, so on occasion, we'll have an expert guiding us on the landscape. Our biking outings are linked with our clean transportation campaign goals to reduce vehicle miles traveled.

Most of our outings are led by volunteer leaders, although our Chapter Director will lead something on occasion, as he wants to get out of stale meeting halls and dull governmental hearings. Outings are about connecting with people, so consider joining us for an outing or even doing the training to lead an outing. Email robb.kidd@sierraclub.org to get involved today.

See the pictures from the Osmore Pond Outing in Groton State Forest on Sunday, March 1. This was outings leader, Carolyn Grodinsky's first official outing. Carolyn recruited Rose Paul, a retired botanist and board member of the Cross Vermont Trail Association.
