Announcing the 2021 Guardians of Nature Benefit
We are excited to announce the 2021 Guardians of Nature Benefit for the Loma Prieta Chapter, this year honoring former Sierra Club California Director Kathryn Phillips for her four decades of environmental leadership. Read more about our honoree Kathryn Phillips here.
Our 2021 celebration will take place on Friday, October 15th, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Since we had to decide last December, this year's event will again be exclusively via Zoom from the comfort of wherever you are, to be inspire by and proud of your community. |

Do You Care about East Palo Alto?
The City is revisiting its Ravenswood Business District/4 Corners Specific Plan and considering allowing as much as 4 million square feet of office and R&D growth adjacent to the shoreline marshlands and the Bay Trail. Mayor Romero likened 4 million square feet to about 9 TransAmerica buildings.
East Palo Alto is hosting listening sessions through July 20th to hear questions and concerns from community members.

Google Supports Monarch Butterflies Amid Population Decline
The population of monarch butterflies has declined 99.9% since the 1980s, falling from millions to just two thousand in California. Increased development, climate change and pesticides are among the factors of this decline.
Google is looking to support monarchs by restoring and enhancing 600 acres of habitat for monarchs and other pollinators across California.

Our Environmental Legislative Action Team and Climate Action Leadership Team will show you how.
Your Loma Prieta Chapter is organizing a network of advocacy teams at the city level—these are city-focused teams with the twin goals of spearheading actions to combat climate change and to conserve and restore natural habitats.
You will be working with city council members, key city staff, county officials, and other environmental activists. We welcome and educate those who are new to climate policy.
