SLU is one of the most active committees of the Loma Prieta chapter. They have engaged with city council members and staff for over 15 years about issues related to sustainability and climate change.
After reviewing a development plan, the Sustainable Land Use (SLU) Committee typically writes a public comment letter about potential improvements to the sustainability of the project. The letter is sent to the project proponent and/or the City.
In addition to providing analysis and written feedback, SLU often meets with city staff and project proponents. We also publicly comment on how projects can be made more affordable, livable, and sustainable following Sierra Club policies. Suggested modifications are often included in the final design.
